College Football Playoff 2019: Projected top 4 after Week 14
1. Ohio State (12-0)
The Buckeyes supplanted LSU at the number one spot last week. After their beat down of Michigan in “The Game” it’s unlikely that they slip. They now have wins over four ranked teams, which will impress the committee.
The performance of Justin Fields and J.K. Dobbins will also impress. The pair combined for eight touchdowns in the 56-27 win, the sixth time that Ohio State have racked up over 50 points. Fields miraculous recovery from an apparently serious injury to throwing a glorious touchdown pass may just be his Heisman moment.
Despite the Buckeyes forcing a fumble, and an Amir Riep interception of Shea Patterson, they weren’t as defensively dominant as we’ve seen at times this season. This may play a factor in the final reckoning.
The Big Ten Championship Game is the last game before the committee sits to make their final decision. Ohio State will look to leave a lasting impression by shutting down Wisconsin.
