3. Chris Robison was off target again for FAU

For the season, Chris Robison completed 62.2 percent of his passes for more than 3100 yards with 22 touchdowns and only five interceptions. In the regular-season finale against Southern Miss, however, Robison was an uncharacteristic 8-of-19 for 156 passing yards. He did complete three touchdown strikes in that game, but he also tossed an interception.

Against UAB in the C-USA championship game, Robison was once again unable to complete even half of his passing attempts. The Owls passer finished with 18 completions on his 38 passes, ending the victory with 299 yards through the air. It was more than enough to take down UAB, but it was the type of performance that also explains why the Conference USA champions have no chance of playing in a New Year’s Six bowl game this year.

Robison did throw for four touchdown passes, though, showing off that dichotomy of low completion rate against a high rate of high-impact strikes. His one interception resulted in no points for the Blazers, and otherwise the quarterback could do no wrong.

By no means was it the best performance of the season for Robison, who finished the day with a 142.9 pass efficiency rating. But it was more than enough to topple UAB at home for the conference crown, and that is what really matters.
