3. Transfers have huge impacts

Joe Burrow is putting together one of the best seasons many of us have ever seen in college football. It seems like not a single analysts has anything critical to say about Burrow’s game. Sure, he can’t run like a running back, but he’s definitely mobile and very athletic.

The craziest part of it all is that Burrow could easily be back at Ohio State, leading the Buckeyes to what would undoubtedly be the most dominant seasons of any college team in recent years. And, the LSU Tigers probably wouldn’t be a College Football Playoff contender. But, because of the ease of transferring, we have, well, what we have now.

The Georgia Bulldogs have also been significantly impacted by players utilizing the transfer portal. At the end of last season, the Bulldogs’ prodigy quarterback, Justin Fields, left for Ohio State.

Because Kirby Smart decided to continue to start Jake Fromm instead of the true freshman, Georgia lost the chance to win a championship, both last year and this year. Fields is a superior athlete to Fromm and would have increased the dynamic nature of the Bulldogs’ offense that they are so dearly lacking.

Ohio State and Georgia lost big on Joe Burrow and Justin Fields. However, the Buckeyes at least got something very close in return.
