1. Playoff projection

It’s hard to predict how the College Football Playoff Committee will value this LSU win over the current No. 4 team in the country. The margin of victory was about as large as the Tigers could have hoped for heading into the this matchup. Additionally, the committee must place some serious value in the Bulldogs if they had them as high as they did even with a bad loss to South Carolina and a weak offense.

Although, with a “convincing” Ohio State win over Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship Game, the Buckeyes could easily hold on to the No. 1 spot. Their strength of schedule isn’t at the level of LSU’s, but the Ohio State offense looks completely unstoppable.

The No. 1 ranking is essential because, as it is now, the Oklahoma Sooners appear to be the favorite to earn the fourth spot in the play, and they have serious gaps in their team. Ultimately, LSU deserve the top spot heading into the College Football Playoff.
