College Football Playoff Rankings 2019: Projected final Top 25
By Zach Bigalke
Notre Dame put together a 10-win season, but they could still shuffle down a spot or two in the final edition of the College Football Playoff Top 25 for 2019 due to the results around the rest of the country on Selection Saturday. Brian Kelly’s team can only watch and wait to see if they finish high enough to merit consideration for one of the at-large spots in a New Year’s Six bowl.
With their only losses coming against Georgia and Michigan, the Fighting Irish can boast two quality losses to go with their 10 wins in the regular season. Those wins include takedowns of six bowl-bound teams, including nine-win Navy and Virginia and eight-win USC and Virginia Tech. By no means is it the best season in Brian Kelly’s tenure in South Bend, but Ian Book has put together an impressive campaign and the defense has been a Top 25 unit.
All the Fighting Irish can do is watch and wait. If they don’t land a spot in the Cotton Bowl as an at-large team, Notre Dame could land in any number of spots reserved for the ACC and its affiliate quasi-member. That includes Sunshine State trips to the Citrus Bowl or Camping World Bowl, or possibly a Charlotte sojourn for the final Belk Bowl.
