3. Peach Bowl

The only New Year’s Six Bowl that has stiff rules about entry is the Orange Bowl. They take the top rated ACC team not selected for the College Football Playoff. This means the Orange Bowl gets the Virginia Cavaliers. The Cavaliers play either the top Big Ten team or the top SEC team not selected for the playoff.

The other remaining bowls, however, can take two at large teams. This includes the Peach Bowl. Atlanta might be a bit far to travel, but there are some really good potential matchups for the Utes

The Peach Bowl is the least likely of the New Year’s Six bowl games for the Utes, but there’s a possibility nonetheless.

Right now it looks like the College Football Playoff will be LSU, Clemson, Ohio State and Oklahoma. Not only did the Utes lose their conference championship game, so did the Georgia Bulldogs. That would make an interesting matchup for the Peach Bowl — two physical run-based teams.

The Peach Bowl is taking a regional team like Georgia or even Auburn. That next slot could go to the Utes, and ether the Tigers or the Bulldogs would make an awesome postseason matchup.
