1. Shane Buechele and James Proche

This quarterback to wide receiver duo has been one of the best in all of college football. Both of these guys were big reasons why SMU was so successful and why their offense was one of the top offenses in all of college football.

Wide receiver Jame Proche was already a known guy going into the season. Any SMU and AAC fan knew who he was, but now most of the nation knows who he is by now. He finished his senior year with over 1,100 yards receiving and 14 touchdowns. That season was built upon a stellar junior year as well. In 2018, Proche had 1,199 yards receiving and 12 touchdown receptions.

The play of quarterback Shane Buechele helped with the success of Proche this year.

Buechele came into the season with previous starting experience at Texas. However, it was still unsure how he would fare at SMU. He answered any doubts that anyone may had and proved to be one of the best quarterbacks in the AAC. In fact, Buechele had 3,626 yards passing, 33 passing touchdowns to nine interceptions. He will have one more year of eligibility at SMU and is looking to have a good bowl game to lead him into the 2020 offseason.

Similar to Chris Robison and Harrison Bryant, Buechele and Proche are huge reasons why SMU had their best year since the “Pony Express” years. I expect them to link up through out the game as both these offenses should go back and forth against each other.
