Camellia Bowl 2019: 3 players to watch in FIU vs. Arkansas State battle
2. James Morgan, QB, FIU
The senior quarterback for FIU, James Morgan, will be looking to finish his last game as a college player on top.
The veteran quarterback has had quite the college career. He started it off at Bowling Green, where played his freshman and sophomore years. Those two seasons were filled with up-and-down play on a not-so-good team, to say the least. Without diving too deep into the specifics for the sake of the article, when he transferred to FIU, he was met with success as he has been one of the best quarterbacks in Conference USA over the past two years.
In Morgan’s first year as the starting quarterback for FIU, he set the single-season passing touchdown record with 26 and was the newcomer of the year in the conference.
While this hasn’t been the year FIU was hoping it would be, Morgan still helped steady the ship when things seemed lost and help get them back to a bowl game. In his two-year career at FIU, he has a total of 39 passing touchdowns, three touchdowns on the ground and only nine interceptions.
Morgan only had three interceptions on the year, which is a big reason why they were able to grind through a few games this year to get the win. He should take care of the ball once again as he looks to put on a show for NFL scouts and help FIU finish the year on a high note.
