2. Jaret Patterson announced his presence for the 2020 season

Speaking of the Buffalo backfield, they turned up again in force at the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl on Friday in Nassau. Taking advantage of a Charlotte 49ers defense that gave up more than 190 rushing yards per game, the Bulls found their bowl matchup tailor-made to the way they like to play football this season.

Jaret Patterson, the speedy sophomore from Glendale, Maryland, showed up in full force. Patterson put the Bulls on his back and carried the team to the first bowl victory in school history as he churned out 173 yards on 32 carries. Patterson punched in two touchdown runs, singlehandedly outscoring Charlotte in the process.

Those 173 yards were not the consequence of a couple of long runs to pad the numbers, either. Patterson’s longest run of the day went for 21 yards, as he proved himself to be a consistent force for the Buffalo offense.

Patterson was a chain-mover for Buffalo, accounting for 10 of the 19 first downs gained by the Bulls over the course of the game. His touchdown runs came on a six-yard run and a 10-yard burst, as he slithered through the Charlotte defense in goal-to-go situations both times.

In short, Patterson asserted his presence to everyone Buffalo plays in 2020. Entering his junior year, Patterson could get some looks from NFL scouts next season and will be instrumental to the plans put in place by Leipold and his staff.
