2. The Game takes place in Houston

Sometimes bowl games have trouble with attendance and getting a full crowd. The Texas Bowl will not be one of those games. The Texas Bowl is played at NRG Stadium, which is where the Houston Texans play. Houston is only around 90 minutes (depending on traffic) away from College Station, which is where Texas A&M is located for those who are not familiar with Texas geography.

Houston is also a big hub for Aggies. When talking to Houstonians, if they did not go to Texas A&M themselves, someone in their family did or someone in their friend circle did.

With a lot of students calling Houston home and the students being back home for the holidays, you can expect more students at this bowl game than if another team was playing in it. It will be nice to turn on the TV and see a bowl game with a full stadium.

While the Aggies will definitely have the “home field” advantage, despite it being a neutral game, Cowboy fans should show up as well. Stillwater is still with in driving distance (under eight hours) or a quick flight to Houston.

Plus, many Oklahoma State students are from an area in Texas, mostly in the Dallas area which is an easy drive to Houston. So the Aggies fans will dominate in numbers, I still expect some orange to be in the crowd, especially with the game being in a close enough city and a city that is worth taking a trip, too.
