1. Chris Petersen’s last game will motivate team

There’s something to be said about a head coach running his team out of the tunnel for the last time — especially when that coach is loved by his players. Chris Petersen announced after the regular season that he was going to step down after the bowl game, handing the reins to Jimmy Lake.

That immediately sent shockwaves through college football and you know that his team was just as surprised and saddened by the news — but excited for Lake.

Still, there was a game left to play and while normally an appearance in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 21 when the playoff was the goal before the season would feature a less-than-enthused Washington team but because it’s Petersen’s final game, you’ll see the Huskies more than motivated to get that eighth and final win for him in 2019.

Not only will you see a motivated Washington team, but one that will look much more improved with three full weeks of rest and preparation for this one while not having to travel all that far.

The players want to win this one for Petersen because it’s his final game with the Huskies and it happens to be against the program that he left for Washington.
