1. LSU has to play defense, early and often
Oklahoma’s defense hasn’t been too shabby and neither has LSU’s, especially recently. Safety Grant Delpit won the award for the best defensive back in the nation and freshman cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. is just as good if not better in some people’s eyes. Can this defense outplay Oklahoma?
LSU shut down Texas A&M and Arkansas in recent weeks as well as Georgia in the Championship. They have the secondary to shut down CeeDee Lamb, something that will have to happen quickly. However, they will need to shut down Jalen Hurts as well. He cannot get comfortable and get into the swing of things.
Look for this defensive unit, especially the secondary, to step up and show off as an NFL caliber group of defensive backs. Though, this game will be about the trenches and keeping Jalen Hurts off-kilter.
