Georgia Football: 3 keys to victory for vs. Baylor in Sugar Bowl
3. Make every offensive snap count
This season, the Bulldogs were projected to have one of the most productive offenses in the nation. With an experienced quarterback in Jake Fromm, a dynamic running back in D’Andre Swift, and a stout offensive line, the only area lacking was the receivers. This proved to be a problem throughout the season.
The Bulldogs rank 48th in the nation in points per game (31.2) and 61st in total yards per game (411.1).
They will be playing a Baylor team that was more known this season as having an efficient and stout. Their defense ranks 16th in the nation in points per game (19.3) and second in turnovers forced (2.3 per game). Their main specialty is getting in the backfield as they have accounted for 86 tackles for loss and 43 sacks in the season. Defensive end James Lynch is a monster when it comes to the pass rush. He has accounted for 18.5 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks.
Georgia will need to rely on their short-yardage game and stay away from the edge. Winning matchups is pivotal for this offense, but they must do it quickly.
With both of their tackles out, they do not have time to wait for a big play to happen. Swift can be a big key to the game for Georgia in the running game and passing game. This season, Swift rushed for 1,216 yards and seven touchdowns on 195 carries. He also accounted for 24 receptions for 216 yards and a touchdown. Fromm will need to keep track of him in case he gets pressured quickly.
