ACC. 3. player. 804. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. RB. Florida State Seminoles

The Seminoles are about an hour or so closer to Lorenzo Lingard’s home town of Orange City, Fla., than Coral Gables.

The Seminoles make sense for two reasons. First, they have a void in their back field with Cam Akers going to the NFL. They will have two running backs coming in next season in four-star Lawrence Toafill and Texas A&M transfer Jashaun Corbin — pending his wavier.

They do have sophomore Khalan Laborn coming back, but he didn’t show any signs that he’s a No. 1 running back — yet.

The second reason Florida State makes sense for Lingard is new head coach Mike Norvell. There’s one thing we know Norvell loves and that’s speed — and Lingard has plenty to burn. If his knee is 100 percent, then Norvell would love that speed in Tallahassee. He’s amassing talent at Florida State with a class that includes Chubba Purdy — brother of Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy — and Tate Rodemaker at quarterback and four-star wide receiver Malachi Wideman.

Lingard would fit well with what Norvell is trying to build.
