2. Wisconsin couldn’t overcome mistakes

Wisconsin dominated this game in a lot of different categories: total yards, time of possession and first downs. However, two categories they also dominated in were turnovers and penalties.

Four turnovers led to 21 points for the Ducks. They put their defense in a tough position for much of the game. Wisconsin’s offense was able to string together some nice drives but were held to just three points in the fourth quarter despite having four possessions.

A key penalty in this game was the offensive pass interference called on Danny Davis on Wisconsin’s final drive. This was definitely a controversial call as it did not look like there was significant contact on Davis’ part. I will say, it did seem like he was blocking upfield before the pass was thrown which is illegal, but some may argue he was just trying to gain separation.

Tough way to stop your potential game winning drive, but Oregon did what it did all game long after a mistake by Wisconsin: capitalized.
