Dud No. 3: Tevin Bush, Wide Receiver

After leading the team in receiving yards and scoring the game-sealing touchdown in the season-opener, junior wide receiver Tevin Bush became an absolute dud for the 2019 Mountaineers. He played the second game against Missouri, getting two catches and three rush attempts, but wouldn’t see the field again after that.

Bush was suspended for the NC State game, then returned to the team the following week before deciding to redshirt and enter the transfer portal in mid-September. Bush was dealing with foot and heal issues this season, which likely contributed to his shelfing. With two years of eligibility, though, we could see Bush re-surface elsewhere in college football.

Dud No. 2: Martell Pettaway, Running Back

Senior running back Martell Pettaway is travelling the same road as Bush following the 2019 season, entering the transfer portal and continuing his football career outside of Morgantown as a grad-transfer. The, “play four games or less,” redshirt rule was applied to Pettaway early in the season, but it was announced in December that he would transfer.

He didn’t add much to the offense in 2019, but the running game as a whole struggled. Pettaway finished with just 27 carries for 97 yards, but did score two touchdowns in his four games. Prior to this season, he tallied 1,032 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 190 carries for the Mountaineers. However, it wasn’t the ending he or many hoped for at West Virginia.
