2020 NFL Mock Draft: Post-2019 college football season edition
By Dakota Cox
9. Jacksonville Jaguars: Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
This is a weird pick. Jacksonville has a ton of needs, and some are likely more important than left tackle. They could really use a linebacker or a top-level receiver, but the market for offensive line is weak this year in the draft. I’d much rather see you reach for a receiver on day 2 or 3 than an offensive linemen.
Why I picked Andrew Thomas is because I think he can fill in at guard if necessary. I think Cam Robinson has turned into a liability on the offensive line, but the hope is that he can turn things around in the latter half of his career. If he fails to do so, Thomas can fill in. If not, let Thomas help out at guard.
Thomas was supposed to be the top offensive tackle this year, but he just hasn’t lived up to that level of hype. That being said, some team is going to draft Thomas in the first 15 picks. People always reach on offensive linemen, and that will work out for Thomas.
It’s hard to leave CeeDee Lamb and Isaiah Simmons on the board here, but you have to take a guy who can protect your quarterback, no matter who the quarterback ends up being.
