11. New York Jets: Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa

This isn’t exactly great for the Jets, but having an offensive tackle fall to them is certainly a win. This doesn’t happen in most mock drafts, so New York might have to be active in the trade market in order to fill their biggest team need. If not, they could settle for an edge rusher.

Tristan Wirfs is similar to Jedrick Wills in that both of them played right tackle due to team needs. I like Wirfs to kick over to LT in the NFL, but it will depend on which team inevitably drafts him.

Wirfs waited a long time to make his draft decision, but I think it was inevitably the right one. This offensive line class is really disappointing, and teams will be desperate to get the few quality talents earlier in the first round. Linemen have a way of floating up draft boards. Add that with Wirfs’ original talent, and you’ve got a great chance at shooting into the top ten. In this one, I have him falling just outside of that range to the Jets.

Would the Jets love to have their choice of offensive tackles? Obviously. However, this is what happens when you win pointless games in the second half of the season.

Thankfully in this mock, Cleveland decided to take a star at another position, leaving the last offensive tackle with a first-round grade to fall to the Jets. They’ve been lucky to have great players fall to them in recent years (Quinnen Williams, Sam Darnold, Jamal Adams), but don’t expect that to be guaranteed this year.
