2020 NFL Mock Draft: Post-2019 college football season edition
By Dakota Cox
13. Indianapolis Colts: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
Lamb’s fall down the board finally stops with Indianapolis. The Colts are learning about all of the weaknesses that having Andrew Luck covered up now that he’s retired, and lack of talent and depth at receiver is certainly one of them. Assuming they don’t have a quarterback they like fall to them, they’ll likely take the best receiver on their board.
T.Y. Hilton has had a great career with the Colts, but him being the top target is no longer a recipe for success with his injury concerns. They need a new option, and Lamb would do really well with this team.
Lamb’s best trait is his freakish athleticism. He’s a grown man, plain and simple. He’s not the fastest guy, but he can catch almost any ball in traffic. Once he gets the ball in his hands, he’s hard to bring down.
The same concern that comes with most Big 12 receivers remains. They haven’t played against NFL-caliber corners in the majority of their games. What will happen when they do it every week? Lamb’s best case is how he put up 119 yards against LSU in the CFP Semifinal. His receptions were down, but LSU’s main objective was to stop Lamb. Almost every man in that secondary will start on Sundays for years to come, and he still had over 100 receiving yards.
