21. Philadelphia Eagles: Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama

Philly has two main positions of need above any other. They need youth at cornerback and depth at receiver. I think they can address the receiver position later in the draft, but you’ve got to take a corner while most are still on the board. They’re not going to be around in the second round like receivers are.

It just comes down to who Philly thinks is the best defensive back available, and I believe it’s Trevon Diggs. He’s got A+ coaching coming out of Alabama, and his ceiling is really high. I realize that he made plenty of mistakes last year for the Tide, but you have to remember that this guy is a receiver turned cornerback. He’s still learning the position, which only speaks to how great his natural instincts are.

With Scary Terry in Washington and possibly Amari Cooper remaining in Dallas, you really need quality cornerback play to win in the NFC East. I think this is the answer in that, although you could look at other defensive backs as well.

It stinks that Philadelphia won’t be able to get a first-round receiver this year, but they still currently have Alshon Jeffrey. Perhaps he will be traded, but he can at least hold his own when healthy. There’s no one like that at cornerback, so you have to start this run of corners.
