1. Arkansas needs a bridge quarterback

There is a four-star quarterback walking around Fayetteville: KJ Jefferson. Worst-case scenario, Feleipe Franks doesn’t win the starting job at Arkansas. Even if he doesn’t start, he’s pushed a really talented young quarterback in spring and summer practice. Sam Pittman learned that competition makes players better while coaching at Georgia and Kirby Smart learned it from Nick Saban.

Franks — believe it or not — improves the quarterback room at Arkansas from being coached by Dan Mullen for two years. He’s a veteran presence that will help push the Razorbacks’ young talented players.

Best-case scenario, Franks beats out Jefferson this spring and summer to start in the fall. So you can either redshirt them — if one doesn’t transfer — or have them in a backup role.

Either way, Franks can be a one year bridge until Kendal Briles and the staff deem either young quarterback ready to take the helm When you have a team that’s struggled to find itself offensively, it is a plus to have a veteran like Franks that comes from a winning culture to help the younger guys understand what you have to do to win.
