Notre Dame Football: Draft stock update for Irish prospects after Senior Bowl
By Jacob Wilson
Jalen Elliott
Notre Dame defensive coordinator Clark Lea will have his hands full in 2020 when trying to replace one of the most productive secondaries in Notre Dame history. Three members of that secondary were in line to play in this year’s Senior Bowl, a testament to just how dominant that unit was this season.
Elliott, who many viewed as a bridge-the-gap kind of player prior to the additions of Gilman and eventually freshman Kyle Hamilton, established himself as a key contributor to Notre Dame’s defensive success in his junior year. Elliott’s efforts would soon be rewarded as he earned captaincy honors in his senior year.
Elliott, along with all three of his Notre Dame teammates, greatly impressed during practice, handling wide receivers and tight ends alike. While not necessarily challenged in the Senior Bowl, Elliott certainly did enough to keep his stock trending up.
Wright currently has Elliott pegged somewhere within rounds 3-5, ranking him as the No. 11 safety in his class. Wilson has Elliott falling midway through the seventh round. Only time will tell Elliott’s fate, but what we do know is that this past week did nothing to hurt his current draft outlook.
