2. Denzel Mims, WR, Baylor

One of the deepest positional groups at the 2020 Senior Bowl was the wide receiver group. Given the depth of talent in the NFL Draft at the position, it was hardly surprising. Without headliners like Jerry Jeudy and CeeDee Lamb, the Senior Bowl gave some others the opportunity to shine. Florida’s Van Jefferson was impressive, as was K.J. Hill from Ohio State.

For me, however, one man shone throughout the entire week. That man was Baylor’s Denzel Mims.

Despite being an architect of one of College Football’s best stories in 2019 with the turnaround of Baylor Football, Mims seems to be under appreciated in this NFL Draft class. After his performances in Mobile it’s likely that won’t be the case anymore.

At 6-foot-3, Mims has height on his side as a wide receiver in the NFL. He put that to good use during practice at the 2020 Senior Bowl, using his height to go up and win contested catches.

Mims also looked good at creating separation from a group of defensive backs that had a strong week in Mobile too, further enhancing his reputation. His use of quick feet at the line of scrimmage was a joy to behold.

For good measure he also flashed one handed catch ability in the endzone.

There was nothing he couldn’t do in practice.

He then took that onto the field during the game. Although he lost a deep ball in the sun from Jordan Love early on, he still contributed one reception for 13 yards and rushed the ball for 17 yards one on carry.

Due to the depth at the position, someone is going to get a steal with Mims. Just don’t wait around too long otherwise he will be gone.
