Oregon Football: Game-by-game recap for 2019 season
By Nick Noel
Entertaining matchup with Wazzu
Perhaps the most entertaining game of the season was the one played on Oct. 26 against Washington State and then-head coach Mike Leach.
Coming into the 2019 matchup, the Cougars had owned the Ducks over the previous five seasons, with Oregon’s last win over Washington State coming during the national runner up 2014 season.
This edition of the game featured four lead changes and things looked to be in doubt for the Ducks after Washington quarterback Anthony Gordon found his favorite target Brandon Arcando for a 5-yard strike (his second TD) with just over two minutes remaining in the game.
The Ducks proceeded to march the ball down the field, aided by a poor Washington State kickoff and some well-executed play calling, to set up often-criticized freshman kicker Camden Lewis with a chance to win the game on a 26-yard field goal. Lewis hit the kick and was carried off the field, in what turned into a raucous party in Eugene.
