1. Developing and relying on young players

The Bulldogs have acquired great recruits for numerous years but most significantly under coach Smart. While the Bulldogs are praised for their acquiring of high-value prospects, they do face criticisms under the prospects they do not keep.

One of the most significant situations of a highly-rated player departing from the Bulldogs is Justin Fields. He was the second-rated prospect in the 2018 recruiting class behind Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Fields transferred to Ohio State after failing to win the quarterback battle from Jake Fromm.

Fields was not utilized to the best of his potential in 2018 at Georgia as a true freshman as he is currently doing with Ohio State.

The Bulldogs had a great recruiting class where they signed four five-star recruits. These are players that can not only make an impact immediately but potentially start. Offensive tackle Broderick Jones can take over at either left tackle or right tackle with Andrew Thomas and Isaiah Wilson departing for the 2020 NFL Draft. Cornerback Kelee Ringo is the fourth-rated prospect in the 2020 class and can provide an impact with a highly talented and experienced Bulldogs secondary.

Jalen Carter is the fourth-rated defensive tackle in the 2020 class. Having Carter get into a position battle with current Bulldogs can develop all in the competition.

Finally, the Bulldogs can benefit from their last five-star recruit in 6-7, 261-pound athlete in Darnell Washington, who usually plays at the tight end. Having a big and dominant target like Washington can boost a Bulldogs offense under a new quarterback, new pair of tackles, and new offensive coordinator.
