5. Tennessee Volunteers

The 2019 season was a roller coaster of emotion for Tennessee Volunteers’ fans. The Vols started of the season 2-5, and had many thinking Jeremy Pruitt would be out as head coach before season’s end. But the Vols ended 2019 with six straight wins, including a bowl victory over Indiana, send their fans into a frenzy that the team is on the climb heading into 2020.

So what is causing so much talk surrounding the quarterback position?

Well, last year’s starter, Jarrett Guarantano had high expectations entering the 2019 campaign but struggled, causing a split among fans who wanted Brian Maurer to replace him. And had it not been for two concussions, Maurer probably would’ve gotten that chance. But that’s not all who will be gunning for the Vols’ QB1 spot.

Freshman Harrison Bailey was one of the the Volunteers biggest grabs in their 2020 recruiting class, and has Vols Nation jumping with excitement.

Guarantano will enter offseason ball as the lead candidate, but watch for Bailey to jump into that No. 2 spot very quickly. Bailey may not win the starting spot right away, but Guarantano on a short leash, he might get his chance early in the season.
