Analyzing the state list
It’s no surprise that Texas, Georgia, and Florida dominate the list of the past five years’ worth of All-Americans. The three states combined to produce 45 All-Americans since 2015 and are regularly the top producers of five-star high school recruits, too.
Texas is the United States’ second-largest state (with nearly 29 million people), Florida the third-largest (21.48 million), and Georgia the eighth-largest (10.62 million). All three states have plenty of sunshine and a culture that emphasizes its most popular sport, football.
Some states seemingly underperform on this list. Who would’ve guessed that Australia has produced as many All-Americans (four) as Alabama in the past five years, even if they’re all punters? Or that Washington produced more All-Americans (four) than California (three), despite more than five times smaller in terms of population?
Look at SEC states and the number of All-Americans produced. It’s worth noting that the state of Louisiana (six) has produced more All-American players since 2015 than the states of Arkansas, Kentucky, Missouri, and Tennessee have combined (five).
