ACC Football: Top 10 recruits joining the conference in 2020
By Dante Pryor
Though we felt strongly about Boston College building a statue of Steven “7 Wins” Addazio outside of Alumni Stadium, the Eagles’ administration felt differently and sent him packing.
Enter former Ohio State defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. The administration in Chestnut Hill feels the football team is capable of winning more than seven games. A very noble idea, but that doesn’t change the fact that Boston College has the worst recruiting footprint in college football in addition to having limitations as a small private college.
Even so, Boston College seems to have a plan as an athletic department to upgrade its athletics facilities. It then falls on Hafley to upgrade the product on the field. He’ll do it without three of the Eagles’ best players on offense from last season.
Running back AJ Dillon declared for the NFL draft and both quarterbacks Anthony Brown and Kobay White are transferring. Though the quarterback situation is cause for some concern while Boston College waits for a decision by the NCAA on transfer quarterback Phil Jurkovec, they are just as up in the air at running back.
This is why Andre Hines Jr. is crucial to the Boston College offense this season. Even if Jurkovec gets the waiver, they don’t have much in the way of perimeter playmakers. Junior running back David Bailey will return, but with as run-heavy as they will more than likely become Hines will get his fair share of carries.
