The Virginia Tech recruiting class took a huge hit after the rumors of head coach Justin Fuente possibly going to Baylor. He hadn’t exactly endeared himself to the high school coaches in Virginia and the eastern seaboard, either.

As a result, the Hokies’ recruiting class was 72nd in the country good for dead last in the ACC this cycle. They did, however, pick up some good players.

More from ACC

Fuente and the Hokies are looking to build off of last seasons’ resurgence. They were left for dead midseason but found a way to win eight games. Fuente found his quarterback in Hendon Hooker, and their young defense improved through the season.

The defensive line needs to improve as well as the offensive line.

Marco Lee stands to get a lot of carries this season in Blacksburg. Offensively, the Hokies are going to run the football with Hooker at quarterback and need a consistent pitchman on their option plays. Lee stands to be that running back.

They signed two other running backs because, with the early departure of DeShawn McLease, there was only one other running back on the roster. However, Lee stands to be the best and the Hokies want to run the football.
