How could I not include the Nittany Lions’ top-ranked player in the 2020 class on a list of instant impact players? Curtis Jacobs from Owings Mills, Md., is Penn State’s prized signee and he fits a position of dire need on the roster so the idea of him seeing the field early is not crazy.

Jacobs is a composite four-star while 247Sports lists him as a five-star. He’s also listed as the No. 35 prospect in the country and third-best outside linebacker. Maryland’s No. 3 prospect has a solid 6-2, 230-pound frame which won’t have any problem adjusting to the college game and he has plenty of athleticism.

In fact, Jacobs has impressive 4.73 40-yard dash and 4.18 shuttle times that you wouldn’t totally expect from a 230-pound linebacker. He shows good movement sideline-to-sideline and he has a chance to fill in for a departing Cameron Brown.

Jan Johnson is also gone but Jacobs is more of an outside linebacker than a middle and Micah Parsons is back on the other side for his junior season.

Don’t be surprise if Jacobs sees the field right away and he should have a major impact on the depth chart this summer leading up to the regular season.
