MarShawn Lloyd plays day one for the same reason Jordan Burch plays day one; South Carolina’s entire running back group graduated. Even if they did not, Lloyd was going to get some carries this season.

Lloyd’s tape evokes one word: explosiveness. He’s an explosive runner with good vision and he’s a foot-in-the-ground/one-cut-and-go type of runner. He does not dance around in the hole; he sees a crease, hits it, and is gone. Lloyd had special top-end speed as a freshman in high school.

This group of running backs Will Muschamp and his offensive staff have is talented but Lloyd is the best of the bunch.

Spring practice should be fun in Colombia watching these young running backs, especially with Lloyd enrolled early. Each one of these backs brings something different to the table, but Lloyd is the total package.

ZaQuandre White, a JUCO transfer from Florida, was originally recruited by Florida State to play safety and linebacker. After academic issues at FSU, he transferred to Iowa Western Community College and his now at South Carolina and back at running back. White and Lloyd will make quite the 1-2 punch. In addition, White can contribute to the return game as well.
