It was assumed that James Franklin and the Penn State Nittany Lions had an advantage recruiting the Catawissa, Penn., native. Playing close to home was not the top priority for Julian Fleming, however.

The Buckeyes were aided by having Brian Hartline, one of the top recruiters in the country and former NFL wide receiver. Moreover, being a perennial playoff contender and having one of the best quarterbacks in college football — Justin Fields — didn’t hurt either. In the end, Fleming felt Ohio State gave him the best chance to develop.

Fleming’s measurables instantly jump out at you when looking into what makes him so good. He has the ideal size for a wide receiver. Then you put on the tape and see why he’s so special. He has sprinter-like top-end speed and uses his body well when catching the football. He high-points the ball which shows off his tremendous leaping ability. He’s also strong for someone just coming out of high school. He can break tackles for more yards after the catch.

All signs lead to Fleming — barring injury — becoming a superstar at Ohio State.
