With Jonathan Taylor declaring for the NFL, the Wisconsin Badgers have a huge hole in their backfield. They have Nakia Watson and Garrett Groshek coming back next season, but neither are bell-cow level running backs.

Watson is a change of pace/short-yardage running back and Groshek is a third-down blocker/receiver. Jalen Berger has the potential to be the next great Wisconsin running back.

What you get with Berger is a running back in the mold of Monte Ball, Anthony Bennett and even a bit of Jonathan Taylor. He has good burst and vision and hits the hole with physicality. Berger does not go down on contact and is a tough-minded physical runner who will initiate contact when need be. He can also motion wide and catch the ball from the split or flanker position as well as be effective in the screen game.

Behind Wisconsin’s always talented offensive line, Berger has every chance to shine.
