NFL Combine 2020: 3 linebackers who helped their stock
Logan Wilson has been a consistent and reliable playmaker for the Wyoming Cowboys for four seasons. In each of his four seasons, Wilson has accumulated 90-plus total tackles and at least 7.5 tackles for loss.
There have been plenty of inside linebackers who have come from smaller schools and become consistent playmakers in the NFL. Dallas Cowboys linebacker Leighton Vander Esch being drafted in the first round in the 2018 NFL Draft from Boise State comes to mind.
Wilson at 6-2, 241 pounds measures good for most inside linebackers that rely more on speed. While Wilson did not dominate the performance measuring drills like the 40-yard dash and the vertical jump, he did well in the bench press. He accounted for 21 reps on the bench press, which is tied for fifth-highest among linebackers.
Wilson outperformed many other linebacker prospects in the position drills where scouts and coaches were looking. These position drills are where he showed his quick reactions, his movements, and his hands to catch the ball. Wilson showed that he has the size of an NFL linebacker with the athleticism and reactions of a safety.
Wilson was a player that consistently as a safety for the Cowboys in certain coverage schemes. Wilson has been regarded as a top player near the fourth or fifth round caliber players. This scouting combine has shown his reliability and efficiency at multiple positions on defense. Wilson has the potential to be a third-round to late second-round pick after his performance in the combine.
