Perhaps the biggest surprise in the combine was the performance of Jalen Hurts, who many were comparing to Taysom Hill before the event began (a ridiculous comparison). He made a lot of really good throws, and showed his speed that we all expected to see (although he was remarkably outrun by Hawaii’s Cole McDonald, the 4.59 40-yard dash is still impressive).

In terms of intangibles, Hurts is always going to be one of the best. He’s a proven winner, with one of the most successful college careers to date, to go along with learning from some of the best coaches in college football.

What he needed to prove was he can throw with the best of the best at the combine, and Hurts more than held his own. For a guy who will surely be a home run in most interview sessions, this was the biggest riser from the NFL Combine.
