2. Can D’Eriq King finally be the answer at quarterback?

Last season was more of the same of what Hurricanes fans have been accustomed to seeing at the quarterback position.

Jarren Williams had flashes in games against Louisville and Florida State, but the last quarter of the season, he completely lost the plot and has thus entered the transfer portal. N’Kosi Perry was very inconsistent and has not been able to put all of his talent together and be a difference maker for Miami.

The Canes have once again dipped into the NCAA transfer portal to look for a starting quarterback and I believe that they landed the most dynamic passer in the portal. Former Houston quarterback D’Eriq King figures to be Miami’s starter heading next season and it’s not hard to figure out why.

King was ridiculous in 2018 as the starting quarterback for the Cougars, passing for nearly 3,000 yards with 36 touchdowns and only six interceptions. He was a threat on the ground as well, running for 674 yards and adding 14 touchdowns.

You have to go back to Ken Dorsey to find good, consistent quarterback play for the Hurricanes and that is just far too long for a program like Miami to be looking for a gunslinger.
