6. Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M

Seventy-five million. That is why Jimbo Fisher is on the hot seat this season. He’s not coaching for his job this season, but Jimbo needs to win 10 games and pick off either Auburn, Alabama or LSU this season.

More from College Football News

Kellen Mond needs to take a step forward; Fisher is supposed to be the quarterback whisperer. When Fisher left Florida State to go to College Station he was banking on an idea, “If I can win a national title in a place that has not spent much money on football; I can win a national title in a place that spends exorbitantly on football.”

Texas A&M bought into that idea as well.

So far, Jimbo is doing everything right. In three cycles, he has brought in two top-10 classes (No. 4 and No. 6, respectively), and the once porous defense has improved dramatically after hiring Mike Elko as defensive coordinator. The Aggies will benefit from their schedule this season. They will not have to endure the murderer’s row they had to face las season.

For the Aggies to next the next step some of those four and five-stars to step up and take spots from holdovers from the Kevin Sumlin era.

Because of the recruiting and the schedule, the Aggies need 10 wins this season. If not, that $75 million contract might turn into a noose.
