Offensive Line

Starting left tackle: Zion Nelson
Backup: Jalen Rivers

Starting left guard: Ousman Traore
Backup: Jakai Clark

Starting center: Corey Gaynor

Starting right guard: Navaughn Donaldson
Backup: John Campbell Jr.

Starting right tackle: Kai-Leon Herbert
Backup: DJ Scaife

I think that this will be the most important position group and the key to Miami’s success this season. Garin Justice is being hired away from UNLV to replace Butch Barry as the offensive line coach and he will be taking over what was a bad unit from last season.

Zion Nelson, Jakai Clark and John Campbell all had their ups and downs after being thrown to the fire as freshman and should see some improvement. Navaughn Donaldson will be the lone senior in the group and is a solid starter, but has never improved upon a stellar freshman season. Corey Gaynor should be back starting at center and DJ Scaife Jr. will be at right tackle.

It will be interesting to see how quickly highly-touted true freshman Jalen Rivers can challenge for playing time.

One name to watch is Ousman Traore, who was a JUCO transfer last summer and was taking first team reps this spring. Kai-Leon Herbert has been disappointing ever since arriving at Miami as a highly touted freshman, but early reports were that he was with the first team in the spring and I think he will stay there heading into fall camp.
