2. Expectations for Myles Brennan

For the sake of using yet another cliche, there is one that fits. You never want to be the guy after the guy; you want to be the guy after the guy after the guy. Well, Myles Brennan is the guy after the guy. He has to follow Joe Burrow.

This is not all bad news, however. Tee Martin followed Peyton Manning and won and a national title. The unfair thing about it all is Brennan will never live up to Burrow’s magical 2019 season. That does not mean he won’t be a better quarterback than Burrow or even win a national title. It’s just that Burrow’s season was simply an anomaly.

Here’s what you get with Brennan. The first thing you get is measurables. The former four-star prospect out of Mississippi has the size at 6-4 and 210 pounds and a rocket for a right arm. He’s athletic and can move around the pocket. The redshirt junior lacks one simple thing: experience.

One thing he does not lack: confidence. “I don’t want to play anything like him,” Brennan said of Burrow. If he and new passing game coordinator Scott Linehan can have the same chemistry Burrow had with Joe Brady, the LSU passing game and offense is in good hands.
