1. Pat McAfee, Kicker/Punter (2005-08)

Pat McAfee is the most visible Mountaineer on this list, posting daily content on his various social media accounts during the quarantine. Even when he’s not tweeting, his opinions can be heard on The Pat McAfee Show. But McAfee holds a special place in Mountaineer history, for all the wrong reasons.

We all know of the infamous 13-9 Backyard Brawl against Pitt. That would be a topic for about day 200 or so of a quarantine. Hopefully we never get there or have to discuss that game. But there are plenty of other stories McAfee could dive into.

Rarely do punters or kickers become the face of, well, anything, but McAfee might be the most unique of them all. He had a very good career on the field, both at WVU and in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts. But the brand he’s built off of it? From dominating sports debate to acting as one of the best guests ESPN’s College GameDay has ever seen, to pitting himself in position to call college and pro games from the booth while being an advocate for special teamers everywhere — what can’t this man do?

It’s almost like we’re already quarantined with McAfee now with all the content he produces and continues to share with us every day. And as someone who seems to shine a bright light during a dark time, I hope he keeps up all the hard work.
