NFL Draft 2020: Tua Tagovailoa to Dolphins a lock in latest mock
The New York Jets finished 2019 with a 7-9 record with their first victory coming in the Week 5 game against the Dallas Cowboys, 24-22. The Jets also defeated the New York Giants four weeks later which led to a three-game winning streak after they Jets also defeated the Washington Redskins and Oakland Raiders. They won three of their final four games, losing only to the Ravens.
The Jets come into the draft with the greatest needs for a cornerback, edge rusher and offensive line help.
Isaiah Simmons played for the Clemson Tigers as a safety and in the capacity of a linebacker hybrid in his final season at Clemson, leaving after a strong junior campaign. He recorded 238 total tackles in his career at Clemson, with 148 of them being solo tackles and 90 assists. Simmons also posted four interceptions for 69 yards and a touchdown, in addition to 20 pass deflections, a fumble recovery and two forced fumbles.
In 2019, Simmons posted 104 total tackles (67 solo and 37 assists) three interceptions, eight pass deflections, one forced fumble and six fumble recoveries. Simmons will be a solid addition to the Jets’ defense as he was awarded the 2019 ACC Defensive Player of the Year and was also honored with the 2019 Dick Butkus award.
