Alabama Football: The 32 greatest moments of the Saban era
By Dakota Cox
Jalen’s Comeback Region
1-seed Jalen’s comeback against UGA vs. 9-seed Derrick Henry’s 46 carries vs. Auburn
These types of moments will have some great debate. Henry’s performance vs. Auburn was against a bigger rival, but Jalen contributed more to the comeback. Jalen’s performance led to a bigger win, but Henry’s season ended up with a title. Who knows how this will go? Maybe it’s a great chance for an upset.
13-seed Minkah’s pick-6 vs. 5-seed SECCG vs. UGA in 2012
Minkah had a great career at Alabama, but this is one of his few specific plays that sticks in the memory. That’s why he pulled off the upset in the first round. Will he make an unexpected run to the Sweet 16? Perhaps. If you would prefer the 5-seed to continue? Vote.
14-seed Reuben Foster’s tackle on Fournette vs. 6-seed Blake Sims 2014 Iron Bowl comeback
This is what I mean about newer moments doing better. Greg McElroy’s tip-toe 1st down was iconic a decade ago, but it didn’t even make it out of the first round. That just shows how long the Alabama dynasty has continued. Maybe we will get a matchup between the two moments including Leonard Fournette by the time this is all over.
7-seed Fournette’s 35-yard game vs. 2-seed Yeldon’s screen TD vs. LSU
This is an LSU-heavy region, but that’s what happens when both teams have so much success for over a decade. Yeldon’s moment is certainly more substantial, but maybe a recency bias will help out the 7-seed. We will find out soon.
