1. Notre Dame: Defensive Back

We have seen the Notre Dame Fighting Irish level up with their recruiting and development. Simply put, they are recruiting better prospects and they are bigger, faster and stronger by the time they leave South Bend.

Last season’s secondary — the entire secondary — has to be replaced. Make no bones about it, this was the strength of the defense last year, and all four starters will have an opportunity to make a roster in the NFL.

TaRiq Black is the only cornerback returning from last year’s team. There is a lot to like about the defensive backs coming back, however. Kyle Hamilton is a ball hawk at safety who can patrol his half of the field. Next to Derek Stingley, Hamilton was the best young defensive back in the country.  Isaiah Pryor was a key pick up from Ohio State because of his ability to guard the slot and play safety. That’s it as far as players with game experience.
