The Iowa Hawkeyes are going into this season with expectations of a huge season. They are coming off of a 10-win 2019 and a blowout victory over the USC Trojans in the Holiday Bowl. Despite losing AJ Epenesa and Nate Stanley, The Hawkeyes are looking to have a big 2020 season which might include a trip to the Big Ten title game.

The staff seems to like redshirt sophomore Spencer Petras at quarterback, and this is the most talented group of wide receivers Kirk Ferentz has ever had. This might be one of the few seasons we are talking about the Iowa offense instead of the defense.

Even with the loss of Geno Stone, this might be one of Iowa’s better secondaries. It is the loss of Epenesa the Hawkeyes need to address. Logan Jones, the top-rated defensive linemen from the state of Iowa has the chance to be special.

He is physical and plays angry. He can play either inside or outside — though at 255 he’ll play outside as he fills out. He has an outstanding first step and can fight through double teams. He has a motor that never stops. He is a Ferentz kind of player.
