College Football Rewind: 5 most important games from 2000 season
3. (3) Miami 41, (2) Virginia Tech 21
Yet another game that features the Hurricanes. This time against their main Big East rival, the Virginia Tech Hokies (remember that conference?).

One thing that was working in the Hurricanes’ favor before the ball was even kicked off was that star quarterback Michael Vick was injured for the Hokies and many were unsure if he would even suit up to play. He did not start the game and only saw action on 19 plays accounting for just 14 yards and then did not come back into the game in the second half but this game had been long over.
Miami raced out to a 28-0 lead over the Hokies and went onto win the game 41-21 and ruining Virginia Tech’s dreams of returning to the national championship and avenging last season’s loss to Florida State in the title game.
I ranked this game third because it sure would have been something to see Vick take on Oklahoma’s fantastic defense in the title game if they could have found a way to upend the Hurricanes.
