42. Scouting Report. OT. Colton McKivitz. 5. Pick Analysis. West Virginia. player

Colton McKivitz has been a starter for the West Virginia Mountaineers for the last four seasons. He started as a redshirt freshman at right tackle. He would stay at right tackle for the next two seasons, starting all 25 games and being named an honorable mention on the all Big 12 teams.

In 2019, McKivitz moved over to left tackle and became a solid starter and earned third team All-American honors. He is solid in pass protection and has the size that you want in an offensive tackle at 6-foot-6 and 306 pounds.

My biggest knock on him is that he is very average; there is no part of McKivitz’s game that stands out. He displayed average athleticism and did not show out at the combine and he is not the strongest prospect, which is a problem if he is going to play at right tackle in the NFL. He projects as a backup tackle in the NFL.

A good fit for McKivitz could be the 49ers.

As it stands right now, the Niners don’t have another selection until their fifth round pick after their two first-round selections and offensive line depth is something that they should target in the later part of the draft and a multi-year starter is a good guy to target when talking about NFL offensive line depth.

Projection: Fifth round, No. 156 overall (49ers)
