West Virginia Football: Where will Mountaineers land in 2020 NFL Draft?
Keith Washington Jr. has been one of the best — if not the best — players on some suspect West Virginia defenses these past few years. He has been a starter for the past two seasons at cornerback and tallied a total of six interceptions.
Washington has the size that you want in an NFL cornerback at 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds and showed good recovery ability and ball skills, which will stick out to teams when they cut his film on. He did not receive a combine invite and was not able to have a pro day due to the current health crisis, but he deserved an invite based on watching clips of his film and he could stick around as a special teams guy and work his way to being a solid nickel corner.
However, Washington is not a great tackler and struggles in zone coverage and get beat by faster and quicker receivers.
The New York Giants are a team to watch in terms of taking defensive backs at some point in this draft. Their defense was bad at just about every level and could take a chance on a talented guy like Washington.
Projection: Seventh round, No. 238 overall (Giants)
