CB. Ohio State. 28. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Damon Arnette. 3. player

I’m a firm believer in Ohio State’s NFL talent pool. Players that come from Ohio State are usually solid picks in the NFL draft and Damon Arnette happened to be one of the top prospects in this year’s class from Columbus.

Unfortunately, Las Vegas didn’t realize that he had second-round pick written all over him.

The College GameDay crew tried to sugarcoat this pick by Las Vegas, but it was just too little too late as the Raiders looked like one of the teams in the first round that swung and missed with a player that probably could have fallen to the second round.

Don’t get me wrong, Arnette was a solid cornerback opposite Jeff Okudah, but there was a reason the latter was given a lot more attention. One was a first-round talent and potentially the best cornerback in the NFL draft in years and the other was a late-first round pick at the very earliest, but more than likely a mid-second round guy.

Arnette could push for a starting job in year one but he may be more of a project for the Raiders as Jon Gruden gets to pad the depth in his defensive backfield.

No. 19 for Arnette seems wildly sketchy.
