LSU. Joe Burrow. player. Pick Analysis. QB. Scouting Report. 3. 56

After one of the best single-season performances in college football history, LSU Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow was selected first overall pick to be the future face of the Cincinnati Bengals. This makes the third consecutive time that the reigning Heisman Trophy-winning was selected to be the first overall pick in the NFL Draft.

Burrow will take over the role of starting quarterback from the declining Andy Dalton for the Bengals. He will join a roster that consists of high-power receiver corps that includes seven-time Pro Bowler A.J. Green, slot receiver John Ross and second-round pick Tee Higgins.

The Bengals’ offensive line will be more efficient with 2019 NFL Draft pick in tackle Jonah Williams coming back from a season-ending. This can be a Bengals passing game that can be ranked within the top ten in the passing game.

Burrow will have some significant work to do as the starting quarterback for the Bengals after they finished the season with a 2-14 record. He will have a different expectation from other first overall picks and Heisman Trophy winners in dual-threat quarterbacks in Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray. He will be judged based on his production solely on his arm and leadership capabilities that he was able to display at LSU.

Look for him to be tested early and often by the Bengals, fans and the opposing defenses due to his title as a first overall pick. He will need to continue his production of mechanics despite a solid difference between 2018 and 2019. This will be a task that the Cincinnati Bengals will need to do with Burrow to ensure he will produce his first year in the league.
