Season Outlook

Record: 10-2 (7-2)

There’s a lot to be excited about in Austin, but can this team get over the hump that has existed year after year? That’s the concern with Texas.

Herman’s team has a history of slipping in spots where they shouldn’t, and that’s why it’s hard to go all the way with Texas. They should be a really good team in 2020, but it’s tough to predict fewer than two losses, mainly because it feels like up to this point, Texas gives away at least two a year.

Early in the 2020 season, they’ll have two games against huge brands that will have taken a step back. LSU has lost nearly everything from its title team, and Oklahoma will likely see and end to the streak of elite-level quarterback play they’ve seen in recent years. Those wins can make headlines, but they may be fool’s gold.

This team will be better than it was a year ago, and that will bear itself in the 10-2 record against 2019’s 8-5 record. There will undoubtedly be a bigger bowl in store for Texas, but they’ll still miss out on making that field of four teams in the College Football Playoff.
